The Rail Labourer course is a general qualification for personnel performing basic operations within the rail infrastructure environment. This course covers 6 core units from TLI27121 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure.

Participants will gain the foundational knowledge and skills required to:
  • Undertake a variety of tasks in rail infrastructure maintenance and operations.
  • Perform general labouring duties under the supervision of Track Worker roles such as Track Maintainers.
  • Apply known routines and procedures in a rail work environment, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Certification

Upon successful completion of all required assessments, students will be issued a:

Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment:
TLIB0012 Maintain and use hand tools
TLID0020 Shift materials safely using manual handling tools
TLIE1003 Participate in basic workplace communication
TLIF0025 Follow work health and safety procedures
TLIF2010 Apply fatigue management strategies
TLIU2008 Apply environmental procedures to rail infrastructure

Entry Requirements Section

In alignment with industry consultation and the job role expectations, the following is needed for course admission:
  • A valid Category 3 or 1 Rail Medical assessment
  • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry 
  • TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor
