Rail Safety Worker Health Assessment – Category 3

The assessment evaluates:

• Hearing: Ability to hear instructions and warnings, typically assessed up to 2000 Hz .

• Vision: Ensuring sufficient visual acuity to navigate the rail environment safely .

• Mobility: Assessing the capability to move safely within the rail corridor, including walking on uneven surfaces .

• Drug & Alcohol Screening: Testing for substances that could impair the ability to work safely .

The assessment typically takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Validity and Renewal

• Under 40 Years of Age: The medical is valid until the employee reaches 40 years old.

• 40 Years and Over: A medical renewal is required every 5 years after reaching 40.

1. Valid Photo Identification:

• Must display your full name and date of birth.
• ​Preferably issued by an Australian Government Entity or an International Passport.​

2. Medications and Prescriptions:

• Bring any current medications and/or doctor prescriptions, including over-the-counter drugs like cold and flu remedies.

3. Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Number:

• Available at www.riw.net.au.

4. Completed Category 3 Worker Notification and Health Questionnaire Form:

• Part A: To be filled out by your employer, detailing worker and appointment information.
• Part B: To be completed by you, covering your health questionnaire.
• You can bring the completed form to your appointment or email it to TruHealth Solutions at contactus@truhealth.com.au at least 24 hours before your course commencement.
